Aims and Objectives of British Team Young Riders
Aim

To put together a group of competitive Young Riders able to compete successfully at International level and maintain an interest in competitive riding into Senior competition

Objectives
  • To identify those Young Riders who have successfully completed a competitive ride of 50 miles or more.
  • To encourage Young Riders to compete in endurance rides.
  • To improve the standard of horsemanship of Young Riders
  • To provide opportunity for Young Riders to compete in FEI rides at home and abroad.
  • To offer a suitable training programme which encourages improvement in the Young Rider and their horses.
  • To encourage those not qualified to qualify
  • To provide a training programme in keeping with preparing for competition. This will include competition on relevant tracks with relevant guidance.
  • To provide training sessions for the team and the squad
  • To plan a financial strategy to raise sponsorship and funds for events, including the money provided by EGB.
  • To put together a budget for the year including training, travel and competition.
  • To communicate all information through the logistics manager, Chair of Selectors and IMC.
  • To identify necessary personnel to facilitate the above.
  • To maintain the enthusiasm of the squad into the future.

 

Championship Criteria

The minimum qualification criteria for  Junior/Young Rider FEI Endurance Championships are the FEI Qualification Criteria published in the FEI Rules for Endurance Riding, Art 816 ( www.horsesport.org ). 

816.3.1 Horses must have graduated through the qualifying processes outlined above for Novice and CEI-Star qualifying up to, and including, the distance of the event for which a Certificate of Capability is sought.

816.3.2 Horses must have successfully completed at least 2 CEI 2* events or higher.

816.3.3 Of these 2 CEI events, at least one must be at the same distance, minimum speed and time frame as the 4-Star Championship and achieved no earlier than 24 months prior to, no later than the close of nominated entries for Championship and/or 60 days prior to the event, which ever is the longest and

must be in combination with the nominated rider.

816.3.4 Riders must have graduated through the qualifying processes outlined abovefor Novice and CEI-Star qualifying up to, and including, the distance of the event for which a Certificate of Capability is sought.

816.3.5 Riders must have successfully completed at least 3 CEI 2* events or higher.

816.3.6 Of those 3 CEI events, one must be at the same distance, minimum speed and time frame as the 4* Championship and achieved no earlier than 24 months prior to, no later than the close of nominated entries for Championship and/or 60 days prior to the event, which ever is the longest and must be in combination with the nominated horse.

816.3.7 Recording and Proof of Qualification: Approved records must be provided for Rider/Horse results for eventual insertion into FEI Database/Passports as required. However, the ultimate responsibility for proof still remains with each NF.
